Billing, cancellation and refunds
How to stop paying us, and how to get your money back. Both are self-serve and neither needs a conversation.
Version 1.0.0 Effective 2026-08-24 Last updated 2026-08-24
In short
Applies to: Buyers and subscribers
- End your first session inside five minutes and the payment is refunded in full, no reason required.
- Cancelling is three clicks or fewer and there is no retention screen.
- The statutory withdrawal right in the UK and the EEA is stated in full.
How to cancel
Cancelling is done on the web, from your account page, in three clicks or fewer. There is no retention screen, no discount offer, no preselected pause, and nobody to talk to first. Your plan runs to the end of the period you have already paid for and then stops.
You get an email confirming the cancellation, the date your access ends, and what happens to your transcripts on that date. Deleting your account cancels the subscription at the same time, and the account page says so before you confirm rather than after.
The Pitch-Ready guarantee
The window is measured inside your first completed session and it closes at 5 minutes. A session you carry past that point is a session that has given you the argument, the transcript and the export, so it is not refundable under this guarantee. We would rather write that down than let you find it out at the point of asking.
It applies to a first payment on a plan rather than to every renewal, and a renewal you meant to cancel is covered by the renewal reminder that arrives before it.
Your statutory withdrawal right
If you bought as a consumer in the UK or the EEA you have a statutory right to withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days, and it exists separately from the refund above. Where the two overlap, you get whichever is better for you.
There is one condition worth stating plainly, because it is the one most easily missed. If you ask us to start the service immediately, and you then use it in full, the statutory right is lost once performance is complete. The checkout asks for that request explicitly and records your acknowledgement, rather than burying it in a paragraph here.
Our commitment is published for consumers in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Spain and Italy, which is GB, IE, DE, FR, NL, ES, IT in the codes a procurement form asks for.
Renewals and price changes
No trial converts. There is no trial, nothing starts automatically, and nothing is charged unless you buy, so there is no conversion notice for us to give. Billing is not built yet either, so the table below is what will arrive before money moves once it is.
| Item | When | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| A monthly renewal | 72 hours before | The amount and the date |
| A price rise | 30 days before | The new price, the date, and a cancel link in the same email |
| A session that dropped on our side | On your next statement | A line showing the session was not charged |
Chargebacks
If you raise a chargeback we will not fight it in order to keep money you asked back. We will supply the payment record if the card network asks for it. Given that a refund is three clicks and takes a few days, a chargeback is the slower route to the same outcome, but it is yours to take.
Invoices and tax
Tax and the first charge total are shown before the card field rather than after it. Every invoice is available from your account page.
The questions people ask
What happens if the room drops halfway through?
If a Tingvar session drops for a reason on our side you are not charged for it, and the transcript up to that point is kept and exportable. A dropped room shows in your billing history as a session that was not charged, so you can check rather than take our word for it. Nothing about a dropped room is silently absorbed into your allowance.
How do I cancel?
You cancel Tingvar yourself on the web in three clicks or fewer from your account settings, with no retention interstitial and nobody to talk to first. The control is at the account cancel page and it is linked from account settings. Your plan runs to the end of the period you have paid for, and your transcripts stay exportable until you delete them. Deleting your account cancels the subscription at the same time, and the account page says so before you confirm rather than after.
Can I get a refund?
Tingvar refunds your first payment in full if you end your first session inside the first five minutes. That is the Pitch-Ready guarantee, and you trigger it from your account without explaining yourself. Carry the session past five minutes and it is not refundable, because by then you have the argument, the transcript and the export. Your statutory withdrawal right in the UK and the EU is separate, is not limited to five minutes, and is not ours to remove.
